Getting Started
After installing NômKey, go to Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard and select NômKey. Then open the NômKey app and follow the setup guide for step-by-step instructions.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I switch to NômKey while typing?
- Tap and hold the 🌐 globe key on your current keyboard and select NômKey from the list.
- How do I type Vietnamese with Hán-Nôm suggestions?
- Type using Telex or VNI input — for example, type viet or vie65t — then tap a Hán-Nôm character from the suggestion bar above the keys.
- Can I use swipe / glide typing?
- Yes. Glide across the letters to form a Vietnamese word, then pick the matching Hán-Nôm character from the suggestion bar.
- Does NômKey collect my keystrokes?
- No. NômKey does not request "Full Access," so the keyboard has no network access at all. Everything stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- How do I clear all learned preferences?
- Go to the NômKey app → Settings and use the "Reset Learning" option. You can also delete and reinstall the app.
- NômKey isn't appearing as a keyboard option.
- Make sure you added it in Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards. If it's listed there but not appearing while typing, try toggling it off and back on.
- A character I need isn't in the suggestions.
- Send us an email with the Vietnamese word and the Hán-Nôm character you're looking for — we'll consider adding it to the dictionary in a future update.
